The Devoted was founded in 2006 and has been a partnership between local bellydancers of diverse styles and backgrounds since the beginning. We originally started meeting on Tuesday nights just to practice and share information, but over time, we decided we really wanted to turn our attention towards performing, especially towards finding new venues and audiences for bellydance performances.

Shortly after our first performance in 2007, we coordinated and performed in our own theatrical interpretation of "The Rite of Spring" at University of North Carolina's Forest Theater. A video of this entire show is available on our blog at http://devotedcollective.blogspot.com.

Our current project is a monthly show called "Doomsday Cabaret", which appears every third Sunday at The Station in Carrboro.

Our current members include myself, Nandana, Amy-Jae, Julia, Sarah, and Suzanne. We also have two members who are currently on leave, Maqui and Rachel.
