In this workshop, you will learn tips on choosing the right music, how to interpret your music's phrasing, transitions, rhythms, and mood, how to avoid typical pitfalls and to think outside the box when creating your choreography, and how to maintain the integrity of the music you have chosen. Saturday, March 27 - "Vision to Reality: Manifesting Dance Goals" Workshop - Durham, NC

10AM-1PM at Triangle Dance Studio, 2603 S. Miami Blvd., Durham (near RTP), NC 27703

This workshop is for any dancer who practices at home or would like to start. The workshop will provide a comprehensive approach to establishing and working towards dance goals, and for correcting and improving your own technique, alignment, and presentation while dancing at home. Other topics covered will include how to drill, how to keep a journal to track your progress, and how to safely experiment with dance movements. Participants will learn well-researched, well-tested and concrete exercises which they can incorporate into their home practices immediately.
The old adage "practice makes perfect" is only half of the truth. In reality, only perfect practice makes perfect. By learning how to understand the anatomical mechanics behind dance movement, and how to recognize these mechanics in our own bodies, we can learn to perfect our own practices, and, with time, perfect our dance technique.
If that all sounds terribly technical, rest assured, we will also discuss how to transform your home practices into little rituals that will leave you feeling inspired and energized.
This workshop will involve a lot of discussion and demonstrations, but please wear dance clothes anyway as we will be doing some dancing. Please bring water, snacks if you need, a writing utensil and a notebook.
Please email skbeaman at gmail dot com with any questions about this workshop.
